Dr. Jeffrey Harmon Is a Castle Connolly 2025 Top Doctor!

I was pleasantly surprised to wake up one morning and find a congratulatory email from Castle Connolly in my inbox. I had been designated a Castle Connolly Top Doctor for 2025. I had no idea who nominated me. It certainly was not something I was actively pursuing. I am, however, honored by this recognition. Such recognition cannot be purchased. I feel it reflects our values of honesty and excellence in patient care at Harmon Facial Plastic Surgery.
Castle Connolly Has Its Own (Proprietary) Evaluation Process
According to the Castle Connolly website, the process to be designated a top doctor is as follows:
- A physician is nominated for the designation by their physician peers.
- A physician-led research team evaluates each nominee on a range of qualifications.
- The designation is not permanent; rather, the assessment of the physician is ongoing.
The factors evaluated include:
- Education – I was educated at Cornell University as an undergraduate and The University of Cincinnati College of Medicine for medical school.
- Medical training – I completed residency training in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center and fellowship training in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery with Andrew Jacono in New York City.
- Qualifications – I am double board-certified through the American Board of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery and the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
- Professional reputation
- Disciplinary history
Castle Connolly reports that the designation of top doctor is given to only 7% of physicians in the United States.
But while this designation is an honor, it is important to emphasize that such designations should not be the sole – or even top – criteria for evaluating a facial plastic surgeon.
In addition to such designations, meaningful qualifications to look at for a facial plastic surgeon include:
- Patient testimonials
- Online reviews
- Before and after images
- Physician values and philosophy, which can be found on their website
- Physician personality, which patients should have a strong sense of after an in-person consultation with that physician
